AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday canceled the conduct, evaluation, and selection of candidates for Group-1 examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Service Commission (APPSC). The court directed the State Government to conduct the examination again and complete the selection process within six months.

The Court, while dealing with a petition of the aspirants who appeared for the Group-1 main examination in 2018, gave its verdict cancelling the results and at the same time wanted the Government to complete the whole selection process within the stipulated time frame set by the Court.

The aspirants, who moved High Court, alleged that the valuation of the answers sheets was done manually. They pointed out that the valuation was done twice against the rules only to correct wrong answers of certain preferred candidates. The court, while scrapping the list of selected candidates prepared by the APPSC, ordered a re-examination.

AP Govt to appeal

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Government assured the selected Group-1 candidates that the Government would appeal against the High Court’s judgment scrapping the selection. The Government in a statement said that it would secure the future of the selected candidates who had already joined the Government service and working.
